British holidaymakers have been hit by an outbreak of gastric illness, said to be caused by the ´vomiting virus´, Norovirus. Passengers aboard the Lady Anne Cruise Ship were taken ill recently while cruising down the River Rhine, Germany.
 
Only a few weeks after the Diamond Princess Cruise Ship was quarantined in Shanghai, after 400 passengers were struck down with the same virus, The Lady Anne has also been affected. The ship, which is run by Leicestershire tour operator, The River Cruise Line, has been quarantined in Boppard, West Germany after more than 100 passengers were struck down with gastric illness.
 
It has been reported that 20 passengers were hospitalised, and that 8 elderly British tourists are still in hospital. More than 20 other passengers were treated on board the ship. As Norovirus particularly affects young children and elderly people, it was of great concern that most of the ship´s passengers were aged over 70.
