Teenager hurt in holiday accident
A teenager is seriously ill in a Greek hospital after falling from the back of a vehicle in Malia. She had been drinking before the crash, and sustained serious head injuries and a broken pelvis. The 18-year old from Stretford, Greater Manchester, was not wearing a helmet when she was involved in a moped crash. Her family faced paying up to £20,000 to fly her home as her insurance company stated any claim was invalid as she had been drinking alcohol prior to the crash.
Invalidated insurance
In a statement, the claimant's insurance company said ´We are doing all we can to assist her, but she had invalidated her insurance when she got onto the moped after drinking.´ The company advised all holidaymakers to read the terms and conditions of their policies before travelling.
