What is gastroenteritis?
 
 
 · Gastroenteritis is a general medical term used for illnesses with symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal pain etc. It is an infection of the stomach and intestines.
 
 · Gastroenteritis is a very common condition and can be caused by either viral infections such as norovirus or by a number of different bacteria such as salmonella, campylobacter and many others. Bacterial gastroenteritis typically develops as a result of food poisoning.
  
 · Many gastric illnesses are identified by testing a stool sample. If you did not have stool sample taken or if your test came back negative, this does not mean that you will not recover compensation.
