Holiday sickness and food poisoning rife in 2009

Sickness and food poisoning has struck down thousands of holidaymakers in hotels and cruise ships during 2009.Now being referred to as the 'cruise ship illness' Norovirus has been contracted on cruise ships and in holiday hotels, causing severe sickness among holidaymakers.

Hotels where holiday sickness and food poisoning have been reported in 2009 include -Bulgaria - The Riu Helios at Sunny Beach.
Canary Islands – Club Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, Hotel Los Gigantes, Tenerife and Barcelo Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa in Costa Caleta.
Cuba -The Gran Caribe Club Villa Cojimar, Sol Cayo Guillermo and the Melia Cayo Guillermo.

The Dominican Republic – The Sirenis Cocotal at Punta Cana and the Holiday Village Golden Beach Hotel at Playa Dorada.

Egypt – The Savita Resort and Spa, the Red Sea Resort, the Concorde El Salam at Sharm El Sheikh, Sierra Resort at Sharm El Sheikh, Barons Palm Resort at Sharm El Sheikh, Sunrise Tiran Aquapark, Grand Plaza Resort, Laguna Vista Garden Resort, Tropicana Azure Club Hotel, Sonesta Beach Resort and Casino.

Maldives – The Kuredu Island Resort Hotel at Lhaviyani Atoll.
Spain – The Holiday Village in Benalmadena.
Turkey – Holiday Village at Sarigerme.
Tunisia – The Houda Beach Club at Skanes.
Holiday sickness has also been reported during the past twelve months on the following cruise ships -The Marco Polo, operated by Transocean Cruises, The Boudicca and the Balmoral Cruise Ships, operated by Fred Olsen, The Diamond Princess, Princess Cruises, the Voyager of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International and the Thomson Spirit, operated by Thomson Cruises.
